Farmville Seed Cheat Sheet for Facebook

The value of seeds in Facebook's Farmville game can be confusing to figure out. You must take into account the cost of the seeds, the cost to plow, how long it takes the seeds to grow and how much experience points (XP) each harvest is worth. It seems like an intimidating task since none of these factors show an obvious relationship to each other.

Here's a cheat sheet you can use to help you figure out which type of seeds to plant depending on your current goal-whether to make gold or to get XP to level up. We've summarized the information for you below.

Top 10 most profitable crops

We calculated profit per hour, regardless of level, and the top crops are listed below. Unfortunately, you can't start taking advantage of this information until level 19 when you unlock Grapes.

  1. Asparagus
  2. Onion
  3. Sugar Cane
  4. Peas
  5. Tomatoes
  6. Green Tea
  7. Grapes
  8. Sunflowers
  9. Ghost Chili
  10. Acorn Squash

  2. Soybeans
  3. Aloe Vera*
  4. Pumpkins*
  5. Eggplant
  6. Blueberries*
  7. Blackberries*
  8. Cranberries
  9. Daffodils
  10. Wheat

*Seeds that are on both of the above XP lists.

Best all around seed value by level

Although there were no seeds which made it into the top 10 of all three lists above, we can still recommend the best seeds for you depending upon your general level range.

Low levels 1-16

  • Strawberries until level 5
  • Pumpkins from level 6 through 14
  • Aloe Vera from level 15 through 17

Intermediate levels 17 through 25

  • Aloe Vera from level 18 through 19
  • Tomatoes from level 20 through 25

Top levels 26+

  • Tomatoes from level 26 through 30
  • Sugar Cane from level 31 through 33
  • Onion from level 34 through 37
  • Asparagus at level 38

If you follow these suggestions -- and with a dash of your own flare -- you'll soon be one of the top farmers in your Facebook neighborhood. Just make sure to watch where you step!
